What are the dates and times?
July 10 - 21, 2017. No classes on July 15 or 16. Hours are 9 am - 2:30 pm.

When is the audition day?
The auditions are on Saturday, February 25 from 8 am - 6 pm at Sherando High School.

Who can apply?
Rising 9th - 12th graders who are in public, private or homeschooled within the counties of Frederick, Loudoun and Warren.

What areas of study do you offer?
Classical guitar, theatre, visual arts or voice. Multi-talented students must choose one area of study for which to audition.

How much does it cost?
PAVAN is a tuition-free program funded by the State of Virginia and the Counties of Frederick, Loudoun and Warren. 

What do the students get out of PAVAN?
Students receive two weeks of intense instruction and mentoring in their field by talented faculty who encourage students to grow beyond the limits of the traditional school year. Students are surrounded by like-minded peers.

What's the catch?
All students must apply by January 15, 2017. The Teacher Recommendation Form is also due on this date. Students must audition on the audition day, February 25. Attendance for the entire duration of the program, including the final performance, is required. 

Is attendance really mandatory for the entire program?
Yes, yes it is. If your student is accepted to PAVAN, please do not schedule vacation to overlap during the dates of July 10-21.

Where is PAVAN located?
PAVAN's summer program and the auditions are held at Sherando High School in Frederick County.

Is transportation provided?
Transportation IS provided for Loudoun County students. The bus schedule will be released by early June. Transportation is NOT provided for Frederick County students. Transportation for Warren students have not yet been determined. 

What are the important dates?

  • Now - Apply online and download the teacher recommendation (see Apply page)
  • January 15 - Applications and one teacher recommendation due
  • January 31 - Audition times are announced
  • February 25 - Auditions
  • March 31 - Students notified of audition results
  • April 8 - Student/Parent Handbook distributed
  • May 30 - Handbook forms due
  • July 10 - 21 - PAVAN Governor's School


Any other policies I should know about?

  • ​All students must apply before the deadline.
  • All students must submit a teacher recommendation before the deadline.
  • Prior participation in PAVAN does not automatically guarantee an audition or acceptance in subsequent years.
  • It is the student’s responsibility to check with the PAVAN director to confirm that the application and teacher recommendation was received prior to the deadline.
  • Audition times are assigned to students who have applied and turned in their teacher recommendation prior to the deadline.
  • There are no exemptions to applying and auditioning, even if a student has previously participated in PAVAN. 
  • There are no make ups for missed audition times.​
